Empowering foster children to discover themselves.

Our Mission

April Way Children’s Foundation is dedicated to bringing the artists of the world together to give hope to kids, teens, and young adults that have been orphaned or are in foster care all across the world. We are a brand new foundation working with world-renowned musicians, visual artists, photographers, sports stars, game developers, and more to create projects dedicated to raising awareness and funds for foster children all across the United States, starting with right here in Miami.

Our first project is a collaboration between musician Yngwie Malmsteen and painter David Banegas, together creating a one-of-a-kind art piece to be auctioned off online with funds going to resources for children in foster care.

“Through the power of the arts, we help children not just to survive, but to thrive.”

Our process can be described in three pillars:
Collaborating, Meeting, and Connecting.

Collaborating.

Our process begins with getting the world’s most talented individuals under one roof. For our first project, musician Yngwie Malmsteen and visual painter David Banegas are collaborating to produce a one of a kind painting to be auctioned off for charity.

Meeting.

Our artists begin meeting with children in the foster system one-on-one, empowering and inspiring them to discover their talents within. Through sharing personal experiences and doing activities together, the artists help to inspire foster children to pursue their passions.

Connecting.

Finally, we use our platform and work together with our artists in connecting children to potential parents all across the country. Our world-famous artists use their platforms to create PR opportunities and connect with the media to bring attention to foster children in need.

Meet our partners.

April Way Foundation brings together the greatest talents the world has to offer, including musicians, photographers, visual artists, athletes, filmmakers, game developers, and more.

APRIL MALMSTEEN

FOUNDER

Founder and Director April Malmsteen is a third-generation philanthropist. Her grandmother, a doctor, was very active in her philanthropy. April's earliest memories were of her accompanying her grandmother with boxes of supplies from food and toy stores to bring to foster homes. The effect her grandmother had on the children - their faces lighting up as soon as they saw her - has stuck with April all throughout to today.

April is an entrepreneur with many interests and achievements throughout the music, fashion, and cosmetic industries, but she's most passionate about her philanthropic work. She started her first company at the age of 18, going from being a model to starting her first modeling agency in the United Kingdom. With the success of that, she left the UK to move to the United States. She has managed Yngwie Malmsteen for 17 years, directing his career and netting worldwide touring, media, and record deals.

April formed the Guitar Gods Festival, which aimed to give budding musicians a spotlight on their work via online and in-person contests and performances, whilst also raising awareness for endangered animals.

April also founded Medusa Cosmetics as a passion project, and is in the process of publishing her book, due for release next year.

Her first project with April Way Children’s Foundation involves the new Yngwie Malmsteen album, Parabellum. The mural is the work of David Banegas, a world-renowned visual artist and painter. The mural was produced in order to raise awareness and funds for children in foster care - who especially need those things during this difficult time. The original painting will be auctioned off to support children in foster care.
